Are your night doulas trained professionals?

Yes, our night doulas are trained professionals with expertise in newborn care, breastfeeding support, and postpartum assistance. They undergo specialized training and either hold doula certifications or nursing degrees. This ensures that they are equipped to provide safe and knowledgeable care for both baby and the parents. Our doulas are CPR certified and have their vulnerable sectors checks.

What services does a night doula provide?

Our night doulas offer a range of services tailored to the needs of each family. This may include soothing and comforting your baby, diaper changes, bottle feeding or assisting with breastfeeding/chestfeeding, sleep guidance, establishing routines, and providing emotional support to both parents.

What does a typical shift look like?

Upon arrival we will check in with you and confirm the plan for the night. We will remain in the nursery with the baby and change diapers and soothe baby back to sleep. If you are breastfeeding/chestfeeding, we can bring baby to you for feeds and then burp them and put them to bed. If bottle feeding, we can handle all the feeds ourselves, including cleaning and sterilization of bottles/pump parts.  Sometimes small chores can be completed at the beginning or end of a shift, although taking care of baby is the top priority.

Who would benefit from hiring a night doula?

Overnight care can be beneficial for any parent or caregiver who needs support during the nighttime hours. It can be particularly helpful for parents of newborns, parents recovering from childbirth, single parents, parents with demanding work schedules, families with partners who work night shifts, or those in need of additional assistance and rest.

How long should I utilize night doula services

The length of time you use night doula services is entirely up to you. Some families find a few nights or weeks of support beneficial, while others prefer ongoing assistance. Night doula services are flexible and can be customized to meet your specific needs and preferences.

Can a night doula help with sleep coaching?

Sleep coaching is not recommended for babies under 6 months; however, night doulas can provide guidance and support in establishing healthy sleep habits for your baby. They can assist with helping your baby sleep in their crib or bassinet, help create a consistent sleep routine, and offer suggestions for promoting better sleep patterns.

If my baby is older than 6 months, will you sleep train my baby?

Our night doulas will follow any sleep plan that you have for your child. If you would like support in creating a Holistic Sleep Coaching Plan, a separate sleep coaching package must be purchased.

How long do overnight shifts last?

Typically, shifts are between 10pm-6am although they can be longer in some cases. We require a minimum of 7 hours per shift.

Do you support families of multiples?

Yes! We love working with twin families, however we do charge an additional $50 per night.

Is HST added to payment?

No, overnight doula services are considered childcare and therefore HST will not be added to final payment.

wHAT IS YOUR SERVICE AREA?

We work in Sarnia-Lambton. A travel fee of $0.55/km will be applied for families outside of the city of Sarnia.
